Mirvish Productions' 2022-2023 Season

Mirvish’s 2022-2023 Season is getting ready to start up and I am so excited for their lineup of shows.

So, of course, I wanted to share them with you, so you have all the information for what shows will be onstage, and when and where you can find them!

Harry Potter And The Cursed Child

Currently playing at The CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre

Adventure runs in the family. When Harry Potter’s head-strong son Albus befriends the son of his fiercest rival, Draco Malfoy, it sparks an unbelievable new journey for them all—with the power to change the past and future forever. Prepare for a mind-blowing race through time, spectacular spells, and an epic battle, all brought to life with the most astonishing theatrical magic ever seen on stage.

Singin' In The Rain

The Princess of Wales Theatre - September 25th - October 23rd, 2022

Journey back to the glamour of Hollywood during the roaring 20’s. Silent movie star Don Lockwood has it all, a string of hit films and a studio-engineered romance with the most beautiful actress in town. What Don doesn’t know is that the silver screen is about to find its voice, and a chance meeting with a talented young chorus girl set to steal his heart promises to change both Don, and Hollywood, forever.

The Shark Is Broken

The Royal Alexandra Theatre - September 25th - November 6th, 2022

Martha’s Vineyard, 1974: shooting on ‘Jaws’ has stalled. The film’s lead actors – Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss – are stuck on a boat, at the mercy of foul weather and a faulty mechanical co-star. Awash with alcohol and ambition, three hammered sharks start to bare their teeth…

Indecent

The CAA Theatre - October 14th, 2022 - November 6th, 2022

In 1923, after highly celebrated and groundbreaking productions in Europe, Sholem Asch's drama God of Vengeance finally opens on Broadway. What European audiences had found brilliant, dazzling and moving, Broadway audiences respond with shock and disgust. The entire cast is arrested and charged with obscenity. Suddenly this evocative work of Jewish culture that explores religious hypocrisy among other social issues, is a cause célèbre.

Mean Girls

The Princess of Wales Theatre - October 25th - November 27th, 2022

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. Soon, this naïve newbie falls prey to a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

Fisherman’s Friends: The Musical

The Royal Alexandra Theatre - November 2022 - January 2023

When a group of Cornish fishermen came together to sing the traditional working songs they’d sung for generations, nobody, least of all the fishermen, expected the story to end on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. They are spotted by a fish-out-of-water music manager on a trip from London, who must learn that there is more to life than selling your sole for fifteen minutes of fame.

Things I Know To Be True

The CAA Theatre - January - February 2023

A poignant family drama with universal resonance, Things I Know to be True is the story of a year in the life of the Price family. Bob, recently let go from his job at a car factory, and Fran, a registered nurse, have raised their four children — Pip, Mia, Ben and Rosie — the best they could.

Now in their 60s, their children grown, they should be slowing down and taking time to smell the roses and enjoy a job well done. But a parent’s job is never finished, and as the seasons change, Bob and Fran find themselves guiding and supporting their children as they each face life-altering changes that shake the foundation of the once-stable family home.

Pressure

The Royal Alexandra Theatre - January - March 2023

D-Day, June 1944. The Allied forces led by General Eisenhower are poised to launch. 350,000 lives are at stake and the decision of whether to attack comes down to the most important weather forecast of all time.

Hamilton

The Princess of Wales Theatre - Begins February 2023

Hamilton is the story of America then, told by America now. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway, Hamilton has taken the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton and created a revolutionary moment in theatre—a musical that has had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.

As You Like It or, The Land Acknowledgement

The CAA Theatre - March - April 2023

In September 2021, just as theatres were starting to reopen after the long pandemic hiatus, Crow’s Theatre, one of the city’s most eclectic and adventuresome companies, decided to begin with an audacious new show. They said very little about it. Only that it was a “radical retelling by Cliff Cardinal” of William Shakespeare’s As You Like It. There were no further details, no cast list, nothing. Of course, most people know As You Like It as one of the bard’s most accessible and whimsical plays. How was Cliff, a young Indigenous playwright and actor acclaimed for his acerbic, mischievous humour and willingness to deal with raw emotions and difficult subject matter, going to retell this classic of Western theatre?

When the show was finally on stage, word spread about it like wildfire. Its first audiences raved: it was essential viewing, a surprising, powerful, thrilling, and moving piece of theatre they will never forget. As more people saw the show, it became clear that what Cliff was doing with his new work was examining the relationship between the Indigenous community and the rest of Canada. He was showing us what a young, smart and insightful artist from the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation sees in the aftermath of the discovery of unmarked graves on the grounds of former residential schools. He was offering us the unvarnished truth of the state of the reconciliation process this country has been attempting for the last few decades. He was using theatre to do what it always had done: open our eyes to what has been going before us in plain sight if we only took a few moments to pay attention to someone other than our own selves.

Jagged Little Pill

The Royal Alexandra Theatre - June - July 2023

Joy, love, heartache, strength, wisdom, catharsis, LIFE — everything we’ve been waiting to see in a Broadway show — is here in the exhilarating, fearless new musical based on Alanis Morissette’s world-changing music.

Directed by Tony Award® winner Diane Paulus (Waitress, Pippin, upcoming 1776) with a Tony®-winning book by Diablo Cody (Juno) and Grammy®-winning score, this electrifying production is about a perfectly imperfect American family.

Hadestown

The Royal Alexandra Theatre - July - August 2023

Hadestown intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, Hadestown is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.
