Talk Is Free Theatre's Dinner a la Art

Today I booked tickets for an exciting theatre event taking place in and supporting local businesses in my community, and I wanted to tell you all about it.

I love Talk Is Free Theatre, so it’s no surprise that I’m obsessed with what they’re doing now.

Next week, TIFT is presenting Dinner à la Art, a series of live play readings featuring Canadian and international artists, bringing them directly to your home.

The best part isn’t just the exciting stories and talent involved with this project, but how it is supporting the economy in Barrie and surrounding communities.

To attend one of these play readings, all an audience member needs to do is purchase a meal or a gift card, with a $30 CAN minimum, from one of the restaurants and retailers who have partnered with Talk Is Free Theatre.

By combining Simcoe County’s theatre community and local restaurants, TIFT is celebrating live theatre while supporting local businesses, both of which have been hit hard by the pandemic.

To gain access to the event, you first need to choose one of the retailers, then contact them and make your $30+ CAD purchase! This purchase is done through the business directly, and once payment has been made, they will provide you with an access code to the event. You can then redeem your code on the TIFT website for the play of your choice, and will receive the link by email.

It’s easy as pie, and the customer service support both from the retailers and theatre company is amazing if you are in need of any assistance!

The live play readings will take place from April 7th-11th, which include an exciting variety of stories and feature a group of wonderful artists.

Here are a list of the plays you can catch this coming week with Talk Is Free Theatre:

Heartbreak House by George Bernard Shaw - APRIL 7TH @ 7PM

Riot by Andrew Moodie - APRIL 8TH @ 7PM

She Stoops To Conquer by Oliver Goldsmith - APRIL 9TH @ 7PM

Bright Lights by Kat Sandler - APRIL 10TH @ 7PM

Here is a list of the participating businesses for this event:

Barrie: Bacio Trattoria, Donaleigh’s Irish Public House, Holly’s Sweets & Eats, Il Buco Ristorante, Limoncello Bistro, Michael & Marion's, North Country BBQ, Tara, ZuZu Fashion Boutique, or via a Barrie BIA Lifeline E-Giftcard.

Orillia: The Common Stove, Era 67.
