Once, when I was discussing BSOTC with my mentor, she told me:
“You’re that theatre girl.”
Which is true.
For as long as I can remember, I have eaten, slept, and breathed theatre.
But Xena’s words really stuck with me, and left me pondering what it meant, especially for this space.
What does being That Theatre Girl mean to me?
She’s a kind and supportive member of the theatre community and dedicated lover of the arts.
She is eager to share fun facts, theatre history, and news.
She knows all the tips and tricks, onstage and off, and is always willing to share.
She wants to encourage people to support theatre in all its forms and ensure that patrons have the absolute best time.
All of this leads me to my goals for this website.
It’s a place for people to celebrate their love of theatre. To find behind-the-scenes tidbits, discover new shows and songs, read news and reviews to find a show near them, or even find the facts they need for writing a theatre history paper.
Consider me your concierge: I am here to help you live your best stagey life, on both sides of the curtain (pun definitely intended).
As I go into my third year on the blog, this is who I hope to be.
So if there is anything you would like to see, please reach out to bothsidesofthecurtain@outlook.com .
I can't wait to spend another year celebrating theatre with you all!
